  • 'Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see'". Hebrews 11:1

  • "Faith is the key that unlocks the storehouse of heaven." (Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, p. 159)

  •  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1Jn 5:14,15)

On the importance of faith:

  •  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him; for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:5, 6.)

On the nature of faith:

  • Faith is the expecting the word of God to do what it says and the depending upon that word to do what it says.

  • "Faith is not a blind belief, but a reasoned trust." (The Great Controversy, p. 529)

  • "Faith is not a passive acceptance, but an active pursuit." (The Desire of Ages, p. 675)

  • "Faith is not a human achievement, but a divine gift." (Ephesians 2:8)

  • "Faith is not a guarantee of a comfortable life, but a promise of eternal life." (John 3:16)

On the origin of Faith

  • So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)

  •  ...according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Rom 12:3 )
